No death penalty mercy petitions pending: Chaudhry Nisar















ISLAMABAD: In his written reply submitted in the National Assembly, Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar said implementation on the death penalty had been stopped until there was a discussion held between President Mamnoon Hussain and Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif.

Nisar further said there were no mercy petitions pending over the death penalty.

According to the interior minister, five kidnapping for ransom cases took place in the federal capital during one year.

The reply also provided details of payments made to government lawyers in the treason case of former president General (retd) Pervez Musharraf.
